The Coolidge Corner Theaterhas selected Jonathan Demme and his protean career (schlock, pop, pulp, humanitarian documentary) for its annual Coolidge Award, which recognizes "a selected film artist whose work advances the spirit of original and challenging cinema."It's a two-day event, which I believe is how long the wedding lasts in Demme's "Rachel Getting Married." The temptation to have him sign "Stop Making Sense" posters and Hannibal Lecter masks is there, but you will resist. Past winners include Meryl Streep, Vittorio Storaro, the Quay brothers, and Thelma Schoonmaker. The festivities begin March 1.
