Yes, indeed, the Vanity Fair Hollywood issue: It's like a police lineup of pulchritude, with Annie Leibovitz as officer in charge. For 15 years now, VF has been assembling and displaying the movies' loveliest ladies on the cover of its March issue -- with the occasional guest appearance by some male of the species. (Remember four years ago, a spiffily dressed Tom Ford, very much a single man, alongside a spiffily undressed Keira Knightley and Scarlett Johansson?) Movie Nation was struck by a certain trend this year. Average age of actresses who appeared on first Hollywood issue: 30. Average age of actresses appearing in current issue: 23. Is Graydon Carter trying to set things up for an eventual spinoff title, VF Teens? At least the ladies aren't in their underwear this year. Instead they look more like the finalists for Most Likely to Succeed at a finishing school. "The Trouble with Angels" meets "Heathers"?
