Fans excited to see Channing Tatum team up with Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Bruce Willis in the next installment of the "G.I. Joe" films will have to wait quite a bit longer. Just short of its planned June 29 release, Paramount Pictures has pushed back the second film, "G.I. Joe: Retaliation," to March 2013.

The most prominent factor leading to the delay was the studio's desire to release the movie in 3-D, Paramount's executive vice president of publicity Katie Martin Kelley told the AP. Director Jon M. Chu, who is no stranger to 3-D with films like last year's "Justin Bieber: Never Say Never" and 2010's "Step Up 3D," told the Hollywood Reporter that Paramount initially didn't give him enough time for the added presentation, so he shot on standard film. In an interview with the L.A. Times this week, Chu didn't seem to know that a postponement was imminent.

But after another Hasbro product-turned-movie, "Battleship," opened well below expectations last weekend (thanks to "Marvel's The Avengers"), the studio chose to convert "Retaliation" to 3-D to give it a better chance at the box office.

Are you disappointed by the delay? Would you rather see the movie in 3-D?
