New trailers: 'Pitch Perfect,' 'Django Unchained'
A few new trailers and clips circulated the Internet this week, building anticipation for upcoming releases, including a singing movie starring Anna Kendrick, a spin on Westerns from Quentin Tarantino, and a clip from next week's bizarre "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter."
Kendrick has carved out a nice career, thanks to roles in "Up in the Air," "50/50," and the "Twilight" series. Now get ready for her to go all "Glee" on us. Sort of. In "Pitch Perfect," due out Oct. 5, she plays a tough gal who joins an a cappella group. With Kay Cannon of "30 Rock" penning the script, there's reason to hope it can rise above similar high school singing movies.
Meanwhile, Tarantino returns this Christmas with the Western "Django Unchained," starring Jamie Foxx, Leonardo DiCaprio, and the director's "Inglorious Basterds" buddy Christoph Waltz. Foxx plays a slave who gains his freedom with Waltz's help, becomes a bounty hunter, and sets out on a mission to rescue his wife from the plantation.
Another film set during the antebellum period and playful with history (to put it mildly), "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter" has a new clip featuring the future 16th US president taking on 20 vampires simultaneously. The film opens June 22.
