In his review of "The Amazing Spider-Man," a complete reboot of a franchise that last issued an installment five years ago, Globe critic Ty Burr writes that it's "a contract extension, which is exactly how it plays on the screen," labeling it the "worst superhero movie since 'Green Lantern.'" Regardless, we should "expect spectacular grosses for exactly 17 days," box-office analyst Jeff Bock told MTV.com. Of course, that's when perhaps the summer's most anticipated movie, "The Dark Knight Rises," hits theaters.

What do you think? Was it too soon to dust off Spidey, just 10 years after director Sam Raimi and Tobey Maguire first joined forces? Or did it need some new juice?
