The "Fast & Furious" movies may not be Oscar-winning dramas, but 12 years ago the world was introduced to a cast of characters whose activities have been the center for six blockbuster films.
These six films feature adrenaline loving, hardheaded, thrill seeking characters who will reprise their roles in Friday's release of "Fast & Furious 6." They have survived car wrecks, international manhunts, prison time, massive explosions, and just as important as those catastrophes, broken hearts.
Dominic Toretto, Brian O'Conner, Letty Ortiz, and Mia Toretto have left lasting impressions on our auto-loving memories. Before you head to the theater for your newest dose of "FF" fun, check out these six clips of the best moments from the franchise.
6. This is Brazil, "Fast 5"
The fifth installment in the series wasn't the best, but there were a few moments that we appreciated, like when Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson thought he could muscle Dom and Brian into handcuffs while in Brazil.
5. Brian drives a 1969 Yenko Camaro... onto a boat, "2 Fast 2 Furious"
We've seen some crazy car stunts in these flicks, but one in particular left us with our jaws dropped for a solid minute. In order to get undercover U.S. Customs agent Monica Fuentes (Eva Mendes) back from drug kingpin Carter Verone (Cole Hauser) safely, Brian decides to drive a '69 Yenko Camaro off of a dock, go airborne, and land it on Verone's boat.
4. Dom re-emerges, "The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift"
We spent the majority of the third "Fast & Furious" film yearning for the original cast of characters. Watching cars screech around corners at high rates of speed doesn't make up for the loss of Dom, so when he appeared in a completely unexpected finale scene, we threw our hands up in the air in praise.
"You know this ain't no 10 second race." - Sean
"I got nothing but time. You ready, kid?" - Dom
3. Ride or die, "Fast and Furious"
When Dom wasn't maneuvering a 1987 Grand National under rolling gas tanker trucks in "Fast & Furious" he was nursing a broken heart. His beloved Letty was killed by Ramon Campos' henchman, Fenix, and he spent the entire film avenging her death. Before she died, she professed her love to her beau and we swooned.
"I'm a walking target. I don't want you around when they catch up to me." - Dom
"Ride or die, remember? Dom, how long have we been doing this? And now, all of a sudden out of no where, it's too dangerous? Come on. We'll figure it out. We always do." - Letty
2. Brian's first street race, "The Fast and the Furious"
Who can forget Brian's first attempt at street racing? He definitely didn't have Dom. Not even close.
1. 10 seconds or less, "The Fast and the Furious"
We knew Dom was a bad mamma jamma minutes into the first film, but we didn't know why until he confessed to Brian that racing took his father's life and turned him into a hard-bodied rule breaker who lived his life piece by piece.
I live my life a quarter mile at a time. Nothing else matters. Not the mortgage, not the store, not my team and all their [stuff]. For those 10 seconds or less, I'm free.
