The magic of J.K. Rowling's imagination is heading back to the big screen for a series of Warner Bros. films based on a textbook from "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone" called "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them."

Warner Bros. announced Thursday.

The films will mark Rowling's first foray into screenwriting, and the script will be an original story featuring magical creatures and characters, some of which Harry Potter fans will be familiar with.

Don't get too excited, though. The films will take place in New York, 70 years before Harry's story got underway.

"Although it will be set in the worldwide community of witches and wizards where I was so happy for seventeen years, ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’ is neither a prequel nor a sequel to the Harry Potter series, but an extension of the wizarding world," Rowling said in a statement.

"Fantastic Beasts" will also be developed into a video game, according to Warner Bros.

Are you excited for the new adventure? Will you go see the film when it comes out? Let us know in the comments.
