From Martin Scorsese's ‘‘The Wolf of Wall Street" (pictured) to Steve McQueen's ‘‘12 Years a Slave," several great films hit theaters last year that will be vying for Oscar gold at the 86th annual Academy Awards on March 2.

In fact, the 2014 awards season featured so many noteworthy films and performances that a few big names were actually snubbed Oscar nominations (sorry Robert Redford).

If you still need to catch up on some of 2014's Oscar-nominated pictures, here's a quick guide to the top-nominated films that are still in theaters around the Boston area.

"American Hustle"

Number of nominations: 10
