But the book and movie are about a girl (Saoirse Ronan, pictured, the “Atonement’’ Oscar nominee) whose spirit hangs around after a serial killer rapes and murders her in 1973. Her limbo resides in a space called the “in-between.’’ It’s easy to think of that space as Middle Earth. Rachel Weisz and Mark Wahlberg are the parents. Susan Sarandon is her grandmother. And Stanley Tucci is a very bad man.
