Beyonce played during the halftime shows for free, which may not be a problem for her — the Super Bowl halftime performance is often one of the most watched musical shows every year.
After heavy speculation, Beyonce was in fact joined by Kelly Rowland (left) and Michelle Williams (right) of Destiny's Child and started with “Bootylicious” and also sang their popular number “Independent Woman.”
Her Destiny’s Child members than left Beyonce to perform her hit song “Halo” solo.
Beyonce was dressed in all black outfit, and threw her jacket into the audience early into her performance.
After facing backlash due to lip synching during inauguration ceremonies for President Obama, Beyonce stated she would perform live onstage during the Super Bowl.
The singer lit up the stage with some of her most popular songs, including “Crazy in Love” and “Baby Boy.”
Rumors swirled ahead of Beyonce’s halftime performance, including a possible finale with her husband, Jay-Z. The rapper did not joinBeyonce on stage, but Destiny’s Child members did reunite onstage.
The Superdome was lit up during the halftime show.
The stage showed outlines of side profiles of Beyonce’s face.
Beyonce also had Destiny’s Child sing one of her most famous songs, “Single Ladies.”
Despite a few songs with Destiny’s Child, Beyonce was solo on stage with a microphone in her hand, making it clear that she had no intention to lip sync.
A few days before her performance at the Superdome, Beyonce stated, “I will absolutely be singing live,” and, “I am well-rehearsed. This is what I was born to do.”
The show had its share of histrionics, including, fire, ice, and smoke.
Along with her dance moves, Beyonce’s hair was a big part of her look Sunday night.
The audience roared as Destiny’s Child took the stage. Earlier, Michelle Williams of Destiny’s Child denied the reunion was taking place.
Beyonce started by performing her song “Love on Top” from her album “4.”
Destiny’s Child informally disbanded in 2005, but are reportedly planning more reunions in the future.
