Jessica Simpson's Little Sister Set to Rock Out
11/16/2003
LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Much has been made of
"Newlyweds" star Jessica Simpson's run-in with a can of Chicken
of the Sea, in which she confused tuna with chicken, and also
her famous "I don't eat buffalo" remark when offered buffalo
wings.
But what does her younger (and equally blond) sister have to say about all the hubbub?
"I think that it's funny," said an upbeat Ashlee Simpson,
better known to teens as Cecilia on the WB Network's "7th
Heaven."
"She thinks it's funny too, and we know that she is a
bright girl and incredibly intelligent in real life. Everybody
makes stupid comments, and if they had cameras with them day in
and day out, you would see all the stupid things that come out
of their mouth, too. It's funny to watch the show, and that's
the way Jessica looks at it -- if people can get a good laugh
out of it, then great."
Clearly, Ashlee has learned a lot from her songbird sis,
whom she has toured with as a backup dancer. But the
19-year-old is about to make a run for the spotlight after
signing a recording contract with Geffen Records and hooking up
with producers Stan Fox and Stan Frazier, drummer for Sugar
Ray, to make what she calls a rock-heavy album, influenced by
the '70s, '80s and her love of punk. Not exactly Jessica's cup
of tea.
"It's great, though, because we are so alike but so
different at the same time. And we still love each other's
music."
