Montreal Jazz Fest Features Krall, Jones, Peterson
MONTREAL (Reuters) - The 25th edition of the Montreal International Jazz Festival will feature singer Diana Krall and piano legends Oliver Jones and Oscar Peterson, organizers said on Wednesday.
It is a comeback for Jones, who retired a few years ago, and whose swing style is often compared to that of his long-time friend and mentor Peterson.
Singer and pianist Krall is scheduled to kick off the world's largest jazz festival with fellow-Canadian k.d. lang and the Montreal Symphony Orchestra.
Other key guests include blues rockers Colin James and George Thorogood, Cuba's Ibrahim Ferrer, the emblematic figure of Buena Vista Social Club, and vocalist Diane Reeves.
Organizers said they will also launch a new jazz radio station in Montreal, Color Jazz FM.
The festival will be held June 30 to July 11. Tickets will go on sale online on Saturday.
