Trumpeter Irvin Mayfield (above) is the ingredient that gets Los Hombres Calientes cooking. The New Orleans-based octet is at the Regattabar tomorrow night at 7:30 and 10 p.m. and Sunday at 3 and 7 p.m. Tuesday at 8:30 p.m., Dead Cat Bounce is at the Regatta to celebrate the release of the fine CD "Home Speaks to the Wandering." Tonight and tomorrow night, harmonica genius Toots Thielemans, pianist Kenny Werner, and guitarist Oscar Castro-Neves finish a three-night run at Scullers Jazz Club. Pete Robbins & Centric are at the Zeitgeist Gallery tomorrow at 10:30 p.m. Next Wednesday, cabaret vocalist Paula West joins the Eric Reed Trio at Scullers.
