Russian rock 'n' roll is becoming popular in some Boston clubs. A pioneer of the genre is Boris Grebenshikov, who made an album in the late '80s with Dave Stewart of the Eurythmics. Grebenshikov makes a rare appearance tonight at the Middle East Downstairs. Tonight also finds area rocker Brett Rosenberg launching a two-night CD release party at the Abbey Lounge, while blues rockers James Montgomery and Johnny A. get cooking at Johnny D's. Tomorrow, local Irish rockers rubyhorse perform at McGann's in North Station, the same night that Jiggle jams at Harpers Ferry and the SnoCore tour rocks the Worcester Palladium with Trapt, Smile Empty Soul, Finger Eleven, and Strata. And if you need something more exotic, the group Waitiki offers a night of traditional Hawaiian music mixed with jazz at the Lizard Lounge tomorrow.![]()
