What a world

Boston, Somerville, and Cambridge are popular places for live music, but now that Brookline has Jazz Thursdays at Vernissage, maybe more Brookline-ites will stay put. The restaurant, which has a globe-fusion menu with a focus on Russian cuisine, is putting a spotlight on world music by local musicians. Leo Genovese, an Argentinian-born pianist, is up tonight, performing "original songs and lesser-played compositions from the '60s and the future." Accompanying Genovese are trumpeter Phil Grenadier, bassist Justin Purtill, and drummer Joe Hunt. Music starts at 8 p.m.: $15, $12 for students and seniors. 1627 Beacon St., Brookline, 617-566-3340. vernissagerestaurant.com/jazz.aspx
