If your tastes in live music know no borders, then the World Music/CRASHarts winter-spring lineup probably includes something to pique your interest.

From January through May, musicians, artists, and dancers from around the globe - including South Africa, Ireland, China, Spain, Armenia, Benin, and even a couple of gals from right here in the United States - will bring their exotic and inviting sights, sounds, and moves to the Boston area.

First up on the docket is beloved South African vocal group Ladysmith Black Mambazo, which plays at Sanders Theatre Jan. 18. Also bringing the musical flavors of Africa will be newly minted Grammy nominee Angélique Kidjo, who does two nights at the Somerville Theatre March 21-22, and Hugh Masekela's Chissa All-Stars, who touch down at the Berklee Performance Center Feb. 17.

Among the offerings on the dance slate is the annual Flamenco Festival, this year featuring Ballet Flamenco Eva Yerbabuena Feb. 9-10 and Nocha Flamenca & Soledad Barrio Feb. 15-17, both at the Cutler Majestic Theatre. Choreographer Robert Battle has created works for Alvin Ailey, Parsons Dance, and many others, and his Battleworks Dance Company performs Feb. 22-23 at the Institute of Contemporary Art.

Australian photographer William Yang will also be unveiling his new work, "Shadows," a slide show that functions as both storytelling and social commentary, for the first time in the Hub March 21-22 at the ICA.

Closer to home, Laurie Anderson will bring her unique music and performance art to the Opera House March 29, and Mavis Staples, riding high on her new and universally acclaimed album, "We'll Never Turn Back," will testify at the Berklee Performance Center May 16.
