Tomorrow: Editors headlines at the Orpheum with Hot Hot Heat and Louis XIV; Lyres play upstairs at the Middle East, with the Prime Movers, the Time Beings, and the Sprained Ankles; Bon Savants headline at Great Scott.

Jazz picks

Tonight: Portuguese guitarist Francisco Pais and his quintet pay tribute to the music of sui generis Brazilian jazz master Hermeto Pascoal at Brookline Tai Chi. Tonight and tomorrow night: Blues harmonica great James Cotton is at Scullers. Monday: The Music Workshop presents trumpeter Joe Moffett and drummer Croix Galipault mixing it up at the Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge, Hyde Park. Tuesday: Lyrical pianist Yoko Miwa and her trio are at Ryles. Drummer and composer Brooke Sofferman and his band Sofferman Perspective celebrate their new CD, "Fine Whines," at Scullers. Wednesday: Adventurous keyboardist Anthony Coleman interprets the music of Jelly Roll Morton at NEC'S Brown Hall. Pianist Billy Childs is at Scullers. Thursday: Boston's own 10-piece Either/Orchestra continues its exploration of Ethiopian jazz with special guest Mulatu Astatke, one of the genre's giants, at the Regattabar. Inventive guitarist Giovanni Moltoni and his quartet with trumpeter Greg Hopkins preview music from their upcoming CD at Ryles.
