She does it her way

Email|Print| Text size + By Luke O'Neil
Globe Correspondent / January 22, 2008

Everyone says she wants to do things her own way, but few people actually follow through. Ani Difranco, may be the most successful DIY musician ever, bypassed the corporate record industry by founding her own Righteous Babe Records in 1994. Nineteen albums later, she's still uncompromising in both her music and her politics. And oh yeah, she's pretty good with an acoustic guitar and a turn of phrase. Touring behind a greatest hits album titled "Canon," she stops in Providence tonight.

7 p.m. $34.50. Lupo's,

79 Washington St., Providence.

401-272-5876.
