Hooray for Earth hosts an EP-release party with Caspian and Age Rings (who'll celebrate their CD-single release) at the Middle East Downstairs. Eric Salt and the Electric City celebrate the release of their new album at the Paradise Lounge with headliners Dylan in the Movies. Township hosts a CD-release party at T.T. the Bear's Place. Tomorrow: The James Montgomery Band is at Johnny D's. Helios headlines P.A.'s Lounge. The Ray Corvair Trio is at the Plough & Stars. Sunday: The English Beat is at Somerville Theatre. Akron/Family is at Harpers Ferry. Frank Morey is at the Plough & Stars.

Jazz picks

Tonight: The Brazilian jazz of Sergio Brandão & Manga Rosa, with a special guest bassist/vocalist, is at the Regattabar. Emerging jazz violinist Andrei Matorin brings his quartet to the Lily Pad. Tomorrow night: Pianist/composer Donal Fox helms the latest installment of his "Mashups in Blue Project," an exciting blend of jazz and classical music, at Scullers. The 18-piece Jazz Composers Alliance Orchestra presents original compositions, including one by alto saxophonist Jim Hobbs of the Fully Celebrated Orchestra, at the Cambridge Family YMCA Theatre. Wednesday: Prodigious bassist John Patitucci brings his trio to the Regattabar. Portuguese vocalist Sara Serpa, with a quintet including fine pianist Vardan Ovsepian, is at Ryles. Thursday: Pianist Bill Charlap's marvelous trio opens a two-night stand at the Regattabar. Brookline wunderkind saxophonist/vocalist Grace Kelly is at Scullers.
