The brains behind the popular reggae Sundays at Bill's Bar are bringing a salon-style discussion of the music to Johnny D's tonight. The first installment of the Reggae Reflections series will begin with an acoustic performance by Roberto Gell and end with a roots-reggae collaboration, featuring Tom O'Brien and Dub Station. The evening's main course will be a slide show by Peter Simon, Carly's brother, who will show his photographs of the reggae community, including shots from "Reggae Scrapbook" (above, Keith Richards and Mick Jagger with reggae legend Peter Tosh in 1979), his recent book with reggae maven Roger Steffens. 8:30 $10. Johnny D's, 17 Holland St., Somerville, 617-776-2004. johnnyds.com
