A Decemberist in spring

Globe Correspondent / April 15, 2008

Fans of the quirky, hyper-literate indie-folk band the Decemberists have long been delighted by vocalist Colin Meloy's solo acoustic detours in the middle of shows. The singer, who's released a couple of cover EPs featuring the work of Shirley Collins and Morrissey, has just released his first solo debut album, "Colin Meloy Sings Live!" The live album features a selection of Decemberists favorites, as well as tracks by Pink Floyd, REM, the Smiths, and more. Meloy performs solo in his rousing, troubadour style tonight in Somerville. 7:30 p.m. $25. Somerville Theatre, 55 Davis Square, Somerville. 617-931-2000. ticketmaster.com
