On Tuesday, local hip-hop artist Elemental Zazen released a new disc called "The Glass Should Be Full." Tonight, he celebrates it with a show at the Middle East Downstairs. Zazen says this disc was supposed to be about politics, but because of the loss of a family member, a fire that burned his house down, and the discovery of a tumor that required immediate surgery (that all happened in 2006 and 2007), the album wound up getting personal, as you can imagine. Joining him for his CD-release party will be Elephant House, Vice Versah, Dysfunctional Genepool, and Left Over Wine. 8 p.m. $13, $10 advance. Middle East Downstairs, 480 Massachusetts Ave., Cambridge. 617-864-3278. mid eastclub.com
