Physicist Daniel Goodman likes to experiment, and he doesn't limit his tinkering to the lab. The visiting MIT professor happens to be an accomplished pianist, and he improvises in classical, folk, and jazz styles, using audience suggestions such as the theme from "Jeopardy." He'll take requests at today's Memorial Day Piano Concert, which includes Francis Poulenc's "The History of Babar" for piano and narrator, complete with elephant sounds. 1:30 p.m. Suggested donation $15, $5 for students. Proceeds benefit local organizations providing food to the needy. Recommended for ages 7 and older. MIT's Killian Recital Hall, Hayden Science Library Building (between Massachusetts Avenue and Ames Street), Cambridge. 781-674-2440.
