You want to hear melodious singing, your mate wants to see the Boston Pops, and your best friend wants to check out a new rock band. What to do? Try EdgeFest tonight at Symphony Hall. Keith Lockhart will conduct the Pops in excerpts of Holst's "The Planets," after which former 10,000 Maniacs frontwoman Natalie Merchant will join the Pops to perform music from her upcoming solo album, as well as some tunes from her back catalog and even a musical version of a Shakespeare sonnet. If that's not enough, after the show you can also get a glimpse of up-and-coming Boston indie rockers the Everyday Visuals at the Edge Café in Symphony Hall's Hatch Room. 8 p.m. $25-$100. Symphony Hall, 301 Massachusetts Ave. 617-266-1492. bso.org
