Rockport Chamber Music Festival

The Brentano Quartet (left) pays a visit to the North Shore festival with a program that ranges from bread-and-butter literature (Haydn's Quartet Op. 76, No. 2), to hallowed quartet ground (Beethoven's Op. 127), to music whose ink is barely dry (the premiere of Charles Wuorinen's Piano Quintet, with guest artist Peter Serkin). Friday at 8 p.m., Rockport Art Association, 978-546-7391, rcmf.org

"Carmen"

The cast features Victoria Livengood in the title role, Adam Klein as Don Jose, Robert Honeysucker as Escamillo, and Noune Karapetian as Micaela. Today at 3 p.m., Jordan Hall. 800-658-4276, choruspromusica.org
