JAZZ

Just smooth enough

Email|Print|Single Page| Text size + By Nick A. Zaino III
Globe Correspondent / June 2, 2008

Piano player Rob Schneiderman was born in Boston, but his career took off in San Diego and New York, where he played with everyone from Sonny Stitt to Chet Baker. His latest album, "Glass Enclosure," is smooth jazz that doesn't make you think you're on an elevator. He'll be back in his old stomping grounds tonight, playing an intimate set with Bob Kaufman on drums and Will Slater on bass at the Lily Pad in Cambridge. Fringe, Lily Pad's usual Monday-night jam session, follows at 10. 7:30 p.m. $10 suggested donation. Lily Pad, 1353 Cambridge St., Cambridge. 617-395-1393. lily-pad.net
