Peter Brooks's radically shortened and rearranged version of Bizet's masterpiece won raves for the director in the 1980s. It'll be interesting to see how this intimate and intense 80-minute interpretation of the opera plays out in Boston Midsummer Opera's production (starring Stephanie Chigas, left), which is fully staged, costumed, and performed with four singers, three actors, and an orchestra of 15. 8 p.m. $20-$50.
