Sweet little lies

For bands that get the influence-plus-inspiration equation right, there's an organic charm in the music that obviates the need for pointing out referential touchstones. Although keen ears will certainly pick up bits of this British hipster outfit and that American punk act from Boston's the Lie Society, songs like "I Killed Li" and "Infatuation" (from the bands first EP, "I Think You Mean Menacing") have a sort of aching, anthemic sincerity that needs no comparison. "It's been said that if you want someone to believe your lies, set them to music," singer/guitarist Kain Warwick explained to us recently. He describes his band as Brit-rock-influenced indie that does "everything they can to make you dance." He's definitely not lying about that last part. They perform tonight. 18+ 9 p.m. $8. Great Scott, 1222 Commonwealth Ave., Allston. 617-566-9014. www.greatscottboston.com
