The idea of married music duos seems somewhat cursed (see Richard and Linda Thompson, Ike and Tina Turner). But so far, so good for Jason Hammel and Kori Gardner of Mates of State, who play the Paradise tonight. In the past year, they moved to suburban Connecticut to raise their 4-year-old daughter and still managed to produce a breakthrough album of jagged, beautiful indie pop ("Re-Arrange Us"), tour in support of Ira Glass, and land on the bill for Lollapalooza. Tonight's show is an interesting pairing with Oakland prog-metal band Judgement Day. 18+ 8 p.m. $15. Paradise Rock Club, 967 Commonwealth Ave. 617-562-8800. www.thedise.com
