North Andover: Fall is heralded by many things: foliage, falling temperatures, and the opening of the coffeehouse season. Crossroads Coffeehouse, Old Center Hall, 3 Great Pond Road, opens its 20th season on Sept. 13 with two of the greats of acoustic music, Rex Fowler and Neal Shulman, better known as Aztec Two-Step. Arlington: Hip-hop artists Lyrical, Sugar, Juma Tron, John the Baptist, and Sarita, comedian Big Moe, and members of the Legacy Dance Company are all coming out in support of the Massachusetts Organization of Addictive Recovery on Sept. 12 at the Regent Theatre. Medford: The Medford Arts Center Inc. will host a daylong arts fest Sept. 13, 11 a.m.-5 p.m., at Riverside Avenue and River Street. More than 30 participants, including artists and musicians, will be on hand. There will be free ice cream, sidewalk chalk artists, children's games, and face drawing. Concord: Pulitzer Prize-winning poet Maxine Kumin will read from her works Sept. 13, 7 p.m., at the Concord Free Public Library, 129 Main St. The author of novels, memoirs, essays, children's books, and 16 volumes of poetry, Kumin is a former poet laureate of New Hampshire.
