It's not often that a musician gets to open for himself. But Greg Ginn will be doing just that tonight when he brings two instrumental bands, both with the same lineup, to the Midway Cafe. Ginn (second from left) will be playing guitar with Jambang, a jam band that combines electronic and organic instruments, and with Greg Ginn and the Taylor Texas Corrugators, a jazz and roots outfit. If you're wondering where you might have heard Ginn's name before, he was the founder and principal songwriter of legendary punk band Black Flag (fronted by Henry Rollins) and the founder of legendary punk label SST. 21+ $5. 9 p.m. Midway Cafe, 13496 Washington St., Jamaica Plain. 617-524-9038. www.midwaycafe.com
