Note to aspiring Americana bands: All you have to do is travel from state to state playing in front of local pharmacies and a folk icon will ask you to play his big festival. At least that's how it supposedly went for the Old Crow Medicine Show when renowned guitar player Doc Watson spotted them on the road. Since then, the band has played its finger pickin' country folk with the likes of Dolly Parton and Merle Haggard, had headlining slots at Bonnaroo and Telluride, gone on world tours, sold hundreds of thousands of records, and had a new record produced by Don Was. Either the band is really lucky, or it's just that good. Probably a little bit of both. Old Crow Medicine Show performs tonight. 8 p.m. $29.50. Berklee Performance Center, 136 Massachussetts Ave. 617-931-2000. www.ticketmaster.com
