It's hard to remember sometimes that before her career as the symbol of all that is indecent and unholy on the picture box, Janet Jackson was a pop star of almost unparalleled success. With six albums that hit the top of the charts and a string of singles that rival even those of her only slightly weirder brother, she's as big as they come. We're partial to the good old days, when her songs like "When I Think of You" and "What Have You Done for Me Lately?," from the 1986 smash "Control," practically brought us up as kids sitting in front of the TV. Wait a minute; that sort of explains how we turned out. She performs tonight. 7:30 p.m. $49.75-$252.50. TD Banknorth Garden, 100 Legends Way, Boston. 617-931-2000. www.ticketmaster.com
