We could all use some powerful Romanian gypsy music from time to time, and Sanda Weigl is the person to deliver it. The Romanian-born singer is on her first US tour, and tonight in Cambridge she'll perform the music she learned as a child. At "Sanda Weigl: Gypsy In A Tree," the New Yorker's traditional and avant-garde blend will include songs about love and betrayal, lost youth and getting old, the joy of drinking (did that get your attention?), and more. Weigl will be backed by her Japanese trio of pianist and accordionist Shoko Nagai, bassist Stomu Takeishi, and percussionist Satoshi Takeishi. 8 p.m. $15. MIT's Wong Auditorium, Tang Center, 70 Memorial Dr., Cambridge. artscal.mit.edu [J.W.]
