Chris Collingwood, Fountains of Wayne frontman-guitarist. The band plays a sold-out acoustic show tomorrow night at the Paradise.

Collingwood isn't sure he's the ideal candidate for this exercise since he ventures that he is only familiar with approximately 70 percent of what's on this particular iPod. "I have piles of records that people give me, and sometimes before I go on a trip I load it up with stuff and then I never even hear it," he says on the phone from his home in Northampton. His due diligence may be lacking, but his math is excellent. Of the 10 songs that came up when he shuffled his iPod, he didn't recognize three (marked with an asterisk.)

1. "Tunnel of Love," Dire Straits

2. "The Kerpal Prank," the Jerky Boys

3. "Empty Spaces," Pink Floyd

4. "Hours," TV on the Radio*

5. "Ghost," Neutral Milk Hotel

6. "It's All Over Now, Baby Blue," Bob Dylan

7. "Leave Before the Lights Come On," Arctic Monkeys*

8. "Spirit in the Night," Bruce Springsteen

9. "Bling (Confession of a King)," the Killers*

10. "Vertigo," U2

Total songs: 4,779

Glad we missed: "The stuff that some people might consider a guilty pleasure I'm not ashamed of. I have Olivia Newton-John's greatest hits on here. Oh you know what would be an embarrassment? Andrew Dice Clay."
