Before they head to New Orleans to study with Terence Blanchard, Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, and other jazz royalty, six young composers and performers in The New Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz Ensemble will give their only public performance tonight. Five of the sextet are Berklee College of Music grads, and about half of all students in the Monk Institute performance program at Loyola University are Berklee alumni. Tonight's musicians are trumpeter Billy Buss, drummer Nicholas Falk, pianist Victor Gould, bassist Hogyu Hwang, and saxists Godwin Louis and Matt Marantz. 8 p.m. $10.
