KEVIN “NOODLES’’ WASSERMAN, guitarist for the Offspring

Wasserman’s shuffle is true to his roots. Out of 14 days’ worth of music on his iPod, the Offspring’s guitarist came up with a list of classic punk and rock bands and a pair of funnymen who influenced the California rabble-rouser’s hard, fast, and comic edge. “I have moods where I’m not really into the loud and bombastic,’’ he says from New York City. But, he admits, “I do listen to a lot of older punk-rock stuff.’’ The Offspring will play some of that stuff, at least as old as the mid-’90s, at the Tsongas Arena in Lowell tonight at 7:30. Tickets are $35.50 at 800-745-3000 or www.ticketmaster.com.

6. “Halloween,’’ Dead Kennedys

7. “Hair,’’ the Dickies

8. “Stickin’ in My Eye,’’ NOFX

Glad we missed: “Probably ABBA. I had to learn a 15-minute medley for ‘Mamma Mia,’ for my daughter’s high school choir. They asked me to join the backing band, so I would stay in the wings and play guitar. I don’t read music, but I was able to figure out how to play it, which in a way is cool because it’s a style of playing guitar I never would’ve tried to figure out.’’,
