Please complete the following sentence: During my lunch hour, I am _________.
(A) Out at a restaurant having nachos and a beer.
(B) Working on my personal projects like art, music, and writing.
(C) Using my time to pick up dry cleaning or working ahead.
(D) The center of the conversation in the lunchroom.
If you answered D, your inner Beatle is Paul McCartney. If you chose B, you’re secretly a John Lennon, and C is very George Harrison of you. You went for the Sam Adams and nachos? Yeah, you’re totally a Ringo Starr.
At least that’s the premise of “Beatleology,’’ an amusing new book by California brothers Adam and Roger Jaquette. On the heels of The Beatles: Rock Band video game and the Fab Four’s reissued catalog, the book toes a cheeky line between self-serious pop psychology and farcical astrology.
Through quizzes and entire chapters on each Beatle’s personality traits - and even one on Yoko titled “Your Yoko: Instant Bad Karma’’ - the idea is that you’ll be able to determine which band member you’re most attuned to. It sounds silly, and it is at times, but that’s what makes it such a lighthearted conversation piece, one that Beatles fanatics will no doubt debate into the wee hours.
“We want the reader to realize that ‘Beatleology’ really does work, but in a fun way,’’ says Adam Jaquette. “If you’re a George and realize that that guy at work you find so annoying is due to the fact that he’s a Paul, we think ‘Beatleology’ can help you deal with this person.’’
That’s so George Harrison.![]()
