LOS ANGELES—Michael Jackson's private family funeral was fit for a king and had a price tag to match: roughly $1 million.
Court documents released Tuesday showed that his mother, his brother, Randy, and sister, Janet, were involved in the planning and mindful of the huge amount of media attention that would be lavished on the Sept. 3 funeral.
Lawyers for Jackson's mother applied to the estate's administrators and were granted $1 million to pay for costs that included burial, flowers, cars, security and a post-funeral dinner.
