Italian conductor Fabio Luisi and 21-year-old French pianist Lise de la Salle make their Boston Symphony Orchestra debuts showcasing music from the French tradition. The program is Arthur Honegger’s “Pastorale d’été,’’ Saint-Saëns’s Piano Concerto No. 2 in G minor, Op. 22, and Igor Stravinsky’s “Petrushka’’ (the 1947 version). The last piece is about puppets who come to life at a fair in St. Petersburg. The 1947 version uses a smaller orchestra than the original 1911 ballet score, and offers a meatier role for the piano. Tonight and Nov. 14 at 8 p.m. (30-minute pre-concert talks at 6:45 p.m.). $29-$115. Symphony Hall, 301 Massachusetts Ave., Boston. 888-266-1200. www.bso.org
