The Duxbury Music Festival will hold its opening concert next Sunday at 6 p.m. at the Duxbury Performing Arts Center. Nicholas Palmer will conduct the 30-piece Duxbury Music Festival Orchestra in a program of classical music from great Romantic composers Wagner, Beethoven, and Tchaikovsky. The highlight of the program is the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto featuring violinist Dasol Jeong, last year’s festival’s solo competition winner. The festival, a program of South Shore Conservatory, a nonprofit community arts school with campuses in Hingham and Duxbury, runs from July 17 to Aug. 5, Ticket information and a complete schedule of festival events are available online at www.duxburymusicfestival.org.
