Baby fleas.

This one's leaking out slowly, so let's help the process along: on Aug. 5, local promoter and DIY extraordinaire Stacie Slotnick and Chris Liberato of AWOL are overseeing a jam-packed mini-music festival down on Martha's Vineyard. As of yesterday, Willy Mason (above) had been added to a bill that includes Chris Brokaw and New Radiant Storm King. Admission's only twenty bucks. More info is here.

Last night, I spoke to Devendra Banhart (below) about Stacie -- I'm finishing an article on her DIY work, and he called from California to weigh in. He had this to say: "There's a stage you play on, the literal stage, and there's also a metaphysical, vibrational stage. Stacie helps with both. She cloaks the mannequin with these clothes that are going to balance the music, and balance the art."

And Devendra would know. He's just finished curating/booking/planning his own big concert in L.A., which, according to one website, was full of "organic disco" and "astral advancement."

So does Banhart want Slotnick's job?

"No way. I found myself streaking like a baby flea in awe of what Stacie does."

We'll take his word for it.
