Grammy Learns From Past Mistakes

Grammy organizers' note to self:

1. Don't broadcast awards show on the same night as ratings behemoth "American Idol."

2. Do enhance awards show with a new "American Idol"-style singing competition. Let the people vote on the winner. Make the prize a duet with Justin Timberlake.

A few little tweaks helped the Grammys pull in a big audience for the 49th annual televised ceremonies, which an estimated 20.1 million people watched last night. That's up 18 percent over last year, when Grammy went head-to-head on a Wednesday night with "Idol" and scored it's lowest viewership in the show's history.
