Last call for 2007...

We know, we know. We're tired of reading everyone else's top-10 lists of the year, too. So with just hours before the new year, we offer you our final countdown on 2007's best in music, from songs to concerts...

SARAH RODMAN
FAVORITE SONGS
“Stronger,” Kanye West. Harder, better, faster, stronger.
“Silent House,” Crowded House. Neil Finn’s version of the song he co-wrote for last year’s Grammy-winning Dixie Chicks album features a different arrangement but is equally galvanizing.
“Wake-Up Call,” Maroon 5. Fizzy, pure pop goodness.
“Written Permission,” Lori McKenna. Warner Bros. needs to release this catchy kiss-off from the pride of Stoughton as a single now.
“Shut up and Drive,” Rihanna (above). Less ubiquitous but as much fun as her umbrella (-ella, -ella, ay, ay, ay.)
“Phantom Limb,” the Shins. A perfect, haunting slice of Brian Wilson-style pop grandeur.
“Dumb it Down,” Lupe Fiasco. One of the best hip-hop songs of the year, complete with sweet beats, piles of abstract metaphors, and incisive comedy.
“You Got Yr Cherry Bomb,” Spoon. A strutting bit of Motown-inspired soul.
“Fallin,’” Jay-Z. Jigga back in the flow of the hustle with expert assistance from Jermaine Dupri.
“I’ll Work for Your Love,” Bruce Springsteen. What every woman wants to hear: that she is actually the boss and that it’s worth toiling to earn her perks.
