If you want to see the arena portion of the Dropkick Murphys annual St. Patrick's Day extravaganza and you live in the city, you better start looking for a designated driver or exploring the commuter rail system.

The beloved Celtic punks, put out by the closure of Avalon and in search of a general admission floor plan, are taking their main all-ages show to the Tsongas Arena in Lowell on March 15.

The show starts at 2:00 pm and tickets are on sale now.

DKM will also play three Boston-proper shows in much more intimate environs: another all-ages event at the Local 103 IBEW Hall in Dorchester on March 14 and two 18-plus shows at the Paradise on March 16 and 17.

No word on how to get into the IBEW show yet but tickets for the Paradise shows are $29 and go on sale Saturday at noon through Ticketmaster.

In related news the band will be performing on "The Late Show with David Letterman" this Friday.
