SXSW: Day Two. Fite Songs and Lovers.

Night two brought even more folks to 6th St. as lines got a little longer, the texting a little more frenzied, and the drunken teetering more disturbing. Subsequently, the volume rose exponentially. (Or maybe that was just the grindcore tent that felt a little like an aerial assault every time Sound Effects walked by.)
In addition to the SXSW crowd, plenty of Austin locals have come out to gawk at the mohawks, fauxhawks, and no-hawks invading their stomping grounds. Lots of them are women in very short skirts and very high heels. Sound Effects is amazed we haven't seen a single broken ankle yet.
The smooch factor also seemed high as there was much hand-holding, waist-grasping,piggy-backing, and other PDA going on. Music is the food of love after all.
Among the acts we caught in our travels:
Tim Fite is one nutty customer. At Cedar St. Courtyard an elbow-to-elbow crowd of all ages, sizes, and haircuts followed along with his child-like homemade videos, stomped to his looped beats, and sang along to his quirky, non sequitur rock.
A quick stop into the sumptuous Victorian Room at the Driskill Hotel found local singer-songwriter Meg Hutchinson charming a small but attentive crowd with her burnished voice.
Our favorite scene of the night: two dudes busking, literally, while checking into the Hilton at 10 pm. All the world's a stage.
