Carrie Underwood endorses...none of your business

In this corner we've got Bruce Springsteen, Jay-Z, Matthew Broderick, and Katy Perry lining up for Barack Obama today. And over here we've got Heidi Montag, Daddy Yankee, Patricia Heaton, and, um, Maria Conchita Alonso for Team McCain.

How refreshing, then, that country superstar Carrie Underwood is keeping her opinion to herself. In fact, she's not keen on the idea of telling her fans how to vote. In the new issue of TV Guide, she says, "There is someone I do support, but I don’t support publicly. I lose all respect for celebrities when they back a candidate."

Gossip blog Just Jared has the rest of the story here.

  1. Carrie Underwood is a pop/country singer, and I respect her right NOT to tell us who she supports.

Bruce Springsteen's music is all about social commentary and the politics of America, so he has every right TO endorse publicly-- and SUPPORT-- the candidate of his choice.

He's not a Paris Hilton-like celebrity, whose main claim to fame is making gossip columns. He's an artist with a point of view.

BIG difference. Don't lump Springsteen in with "celebrities."
