Passion Pit gets MTV Video nomination

Posted by Michael Saunders August 5, 2009 08:19 AM

The electro-popsters were nominated in the "Breakthrough Video" category for "The Reeling" and its seriously cool cascading collage of torn grungy images. It's an incredible clip that took more than a month to make and was created by a team at the NYC production company Humble.

Fan voting plays a huge part in deciding the eventual winner, so Passion Pit faces an uphill fight in a category that also contains Death Cab for Cutie, Gnarls Barkley, Bat for Lashes and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. We're staying on the sidelines, but you can cast your vote right at the VMA site. (Hint, hint...)

The entire slate of nominees were announced Aug 4. Winners will be announced on Sept. 13.
