After a concert Berklee College of Music in his honor, Harry Belafonte will be awarded an honorary doctorate in recognition of his "inspiring musical and humanitarian achievements," the school announced on Monday.

The Life and Music of Harry Belafonte will feature performances by Berklee students and faculty at the Berklee Performance Center on Mass. Ave.

The ceremony kicks off with a tribute video at 7:30 p.m., followed by remarks by Berklee's president, Roger H. Brown, then the concert, the presentation of the honorary doctorate, and closing remarks by Belafonte himself.

Past recipients of Berklee's honorary degree have included Carole King, George Clinton, David Bowie, and Dizzie Gillespie.
