Jimi Hendrix biopic could lack Hendrix songs

Jimi Hendrix (left) at the Woodstock festival in 1969. Andre Benjamin, also known as Andre 3000 of rap duo Outkast, is set to play the legendary guitarist in a proposed biopic.
A proposed Jimi Hendrix biopic could possibly feature no original songs from the legendary guitarist after his estate released a statement speaking out against the film's production and the use of Hendrix material, according to Billboard.

Paul McCartney may have had a super A-list premiere (see video below) for his latest visual, "My Valentine," corralling stars like Gwen Stefani and Gwyneth Paltrow for a bash at his fashion designer daughter Stella's Hollywood outpost. However, the actual clip, which McCartney directed, is remarkably unfussy. Yes, there is star power courtesy of Natalie Portman and Johnny Depp, who sign the lyrics of the song in the black-and-white video, but there is little else, including no onscreen appearance by McCartney.

Flea, of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, is shocked -- shocked! -- that someone out there will profit off the image of a dead rock god. Ahem. Let me summon some outrage. On the plus side, it appears that the new, Jimi Hendrix "Liquid Experience" energy drinks will be shaped like small lava lamps.

See Flea? As your last two albums and this beverage prove, resurrecting the ashes of a great career for profit is never a style faux-pas.
